Norman “Otto” “Harvey” Bohn is the founder of Bohn Heritage Press, a San Diego–based publisher created from his belief that ordinary lives, honestly told, deserve a lasting place in print.

Born in 1980 and raised in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Bohn grew up in a working-class home where food-bank staples, family recipes, books, music, and imagination shaped his view of the world. He later served in the Air National Guard, trained in ground-radio communications, and worked with the 270th Engineering and Installation Squadron—experiences that helped lead him toward a career in technology and aerospace.

Today, Bohn is a technical leader supporting defense programs at Northrop Grumman and continues his education through Purdue Global. His professional life is grounded in complex systems and exacting work; his writing turns toward the human details that systems cannot hold: family, hunger, humor, travel, loss, resilience, and the meals that preserve a memory.

His memoir and cookbook, Lard and Lightning Bugs, gathers those threads into a story of growing up in Central Pennsylvania and building a life far beyond it. Bohn established the press to give that work—and the books still ahead—a home of their own.
